It's not just stats. Like Piper said, talent did that. Not heart, not anyone else.

Calling him "saviour" isn't really good proof to say you're not biased and someone else is. And certainly, to say that I, meat, or any of the group of others not outright bashing Delhomme, haven't had bad things to say about him? Ridiculously untrue. Not blaming him for every problem this team has, isn't thinking he's perfect. He's been much worse this year than in the years prior.

This I'm fine with. If this was all it was about, there would be no problem.

Just like your breakdown of Jake's worst game vs. Weinke tonight......I guess it depends on your perspective. And I hate to say it, but your quote sounds like the opening toast at the Jake DelHomme fan club meeting.

I can't think of anyone who had those games on just "want". You never really faced up to Piper's questions on that. That's not perspective, or luck. But if you're sticking to that, you're sticking to that.

Hating to say it, that should be a good sign not to say it. You keep saying random disparaging things about Delhomme, or about people you're trying to say have bias, and it just reflects poorly on your argument. It makes you look like you have a genuine problem with people who don't think just as you do on him.

jake had about as many trash yards against tennesee at home in '03 or '04, one. chris threw a couple absolutely beautiful balls. to say they were just chucked up there -ok, but you've got to add they came down fucking perfect.
he also did exactly what he did in '01 - he got stuck on the check-down. same ol' winke. just keep on dumping it off underneath, over and over, until the wr's don't even run their routes anymore because its a waste of time. that's fucking winke. live with it.

serious question: did winke have more time, or did he just look like he had more time to throw than jake because he doesn't spaz as bad in the pocket?

You can throw good balls up for grabs.
And yeah, Jake had his best yardage game in meaningless time v/s the Titans. I referenced that with one of the other threads. It's a shame, because 400+ yards is a very nice personal statistic. But guys who put up 400 aren't usually on the winning side.

He did take too much of the check down once the game was in its twilight. Unless they're going to let you have that and it becomes productive, it's not worth it every down...getting Mangum involved suddenly becomes the least concern. But I put that somewhat on the O anyway. Either way, it's a slippery slope - he wasn't going to get the deep ball, he was becoming gunshy because of INTs, but he still had to try to make something happen that wasn't a dumpoff.

It's really not an enviable situation.

it seemed as if he had more time. His drops aren't faster, though they may have been deeper; too much of the time, it looked like he took forever trying to come up with a target and his release isn't so fast he can just stand, stand, stand, sling.

The stats do tell a lot of the story actually, and JD has been carried by players having career years at their respective positions. The supporters of JD just refuse to realize that this is the case. Without an overachieving player at a skill position, JD looks very average, and most importantly, isnt very good.

For those who want the summarized version:

Magnus made various comments yesterday mocking Weinke during the game and showing that he was pulling for him to fail just so he could "win" against GH and some others. He called that beautiful completion to Carter just "chucked up there" and claimed that yesterday Weinke was worse than Jake has ever been. Magnus and I are both arrogant assholes, but you would never ever catch me saying such ludicrous things because I actually do care about the truth while he only cares about his ego.

That said, this is really worth the time to read:

FWIW, although I would have been overjoyed with a win yesterday, I am somewhat relieved that QB seems to be the least of our worries, and that our QB controversy has been laid to rest.

Good or bad, Delhomme does give us the best chance to win. And before we go out and invest a ton of money and reach for a marginal replacement, I'd rather fix the line and try to bolster the run game before I bail on Jake.

I would have prefered the win.

I don't support Jake Delhomme - I support winning. I'm in favor of winning. If we keep losing games, changes will have to be made. Jake will be out on his ass, along with several others if we keep this up. That's the nature of the NFL.

Except it's not true, and certainly anyone in chat would've known better. Anyone who doesn't have bias would suggest better.

This also isn't about ego. Maybe it is, since the biggest concern of yours after basically taking us out of the playoffs and collapsing as a team was "atacking magnus".
