on a positive note, Weinke won't make it 15 yards before being caught

I'm having "retarded optimism" about this game. Had we won on Monday night, I would be worrying about a let-down against a team in turmoil on Sunday. Now, we've got just as much bullshit floating around, and since our season is already over, we can go out and play a relaxed football game.

We can still make the play offs and the Giants are playing for the same thing we are right now...although they are doing it with turmoil where we are doing it with a deer in the headlights approach.

Philly/Atlanta/Giants/Panthers all at 6-6 and seeded 5-8, respectively. There is still plenty to play for...for now.:cartman:

I don't know about that. I remember Weinke being able to run better than I thought.

not to mention that when he is sacked, he doesn't look like a rag doll flailing the ball around and doesn't put it on the ground easily.

I think they both have about the same mobility whether it's running or avoiding pressure. Jakes not any more accurate. I think he just takes more chances with his playmakers and up till *recently*, they've come through at crucial times for whatever reasons.

Gambling makes you look good when it's sucessfull, bad when it's not.

I would bet that both are about tit for tat at reading the d if given time. The question is, really, who is the most accurate and better at decision-making under serious pressure?

I think weinke has a better arm and is more accurate (when not really pressured). But I don't know that when the bullets go to flying that he makes better throws to the right person. But jake, especially of late, hasn't been good at that either.

The biggest problem this sunday with cw, is, is he gonna be on the same page in the face of blitzes when he has to throw quicker than he wants to, to a receiver who breaks his route off for the quicker pass.

The real truth is that pretty much the only things we have to go on with Weinke are the following:

    - his 2001 performance (not so good)
    - his limited playing time in 2002 (still not good)
    - his one drive in the Lions game last year (good)
    - and his preseason work (largely meaningless)

The saying "he's a backup for a reason" is valid, but it's also true that the coaches wanted to keep him for a reason.

All of which boils down to us not having the first clue how he'd do as a starter on Sunday.

    I know one dang thing.

I have never cussed weinke nearly as much as I have jake.

But I have been happier with jake than I ever was with wienke, regardless of the losses.

I hope he plays well for the panthers sake to get a win. Not for controversy. Because that will be one big ass can of worms considering the circumstances.

If at all possible, I would imagine jake will want to play if he can at all. Not only because he wants to play and win, but I don't think he want's the controversy either. So if he doesn't play, his thumb must be in some bad shape. Assuming it's not more about benching him for a game than injury.

Didn't he set a record for rookie qb rushing touchdowns?
