The only downer of the day was the Deacons losing to California-Santa Barbara 4-3 in a shootout at the NCAA Soccer Final Four in Saint Louis.

It is such an amazing season for the Deac's. They are not flashy, have no superstars and play team defense like very few others.

The only downer is that they are going to the Orange Bowl. A bowl that will serve as great publicity and help with their recruiting. But as the cameras are panning through the stadium; there will be very few fans which will cause extreme embarrassment for the program and their school.

This has been such an incredible season for them that Wake Forest fans might travel to Miami for this game. If 9,000 will go to Jacksonville on a week's notice, they might get a few more in Miami.

Any of the people here who are from Winston-Salem or the Triad know of the tradition on campus of rolling the quad after any victory in football or basketball. They may have done the best job ever after yesterday's game!

Some downer. Better to be going to the Orange Bowl, which is the closest of all the major bowls. Well, I guess Sugar wouldn't be too bad, but at least it's not the Fiesta.

    Good to see

I guess is some ways I'm an old timer. To see a team like Wake Forest get to sip from the cup is refreshing. The Deacs are a throwback team. Play good defense, don't turn it over, and make a play in the 4th quarter to win it. Grobe is a GREAT coach. No, Wake Forest did not have the most tallent in the ACC this year. They did have the best TEAM. What a concept!!!
