even with the cupcake schedule, State finishes with the same record as UNC, 3-9. Terrible football. Who would have thought the best teams in the state are App St, ECU and Wake Forrest?

Problem for State is they're gonna be in the coaches market at the same time as Miami and Alabama. Two MAJOR players, and because of that there's a damn good chance they have to sit around and wait for those two schools coaching search to pan out. Due to that recruiting could suffer. That's one of the few benefits about UNC getting the coach they did when they did.

NCSU isn't in the league with those two teams in terms of candidates

I heard Lou Holtz is buying a house just outside of Raleigh.

I thought I liked Lou until listening to his homer ass yesterday talking about South Carlolina and Notre Dame.

For what it's worth, I have been emailing back and forth with a buddy of mine for a couple of weeks who is a hell of a lot closer to the program than I am. According to him, he heard that Amato was asked around mid-season last year to be prepared to present an evaluation of his "support staff" after the season. He didn't know the results of that meeting but said that Amato didn't warm up to the request because of its perceived implications. Anyway, my buddy said that Amato was called in to discuss the future of some of his assistants at some point during the week that followed the loss to Virginia this season. He said that his sources, who according to him are well connected, seem to think that Fowler is trying to keep Amato on, but there will need to be changes made in the core group of coaches. The feeling is Chuck will resist pressure to make these changes and may just fall on the sword for his comrades......I know how all that sounds, but I found it 'entertaining'.......

Personally, after listening to some of Chuck's post-game comments and press conferences, I think the man may be dilusional. Most State fans I know would be happy to hand him the sword.

If he really thinks that way, then maybe he is. On the other hand, what's he supposed to say? 'This program that I've built over the years sucks ass'. I don't think anyone could expect to hear that from a head coach.

Either way, time for a clean slate. He idolizes Bobby Bowden, who, now that there isn't a funnel pushing all the really great talent to FSU, is being exposed as a coach that has relied on the talent of his players to get past poor discipline on defense and inept offenses. Amato says he won't change, so someone needs to change it for him.
