How does App, the #1 seed and team in the country not get the worst team in the playoffs in the first round? Before I say more I do realize that last year getting the #1 seed after finishing the season ranked 3rd was a blessing, but this doesn't make a lick of sense. Coastal Carolina finished 9-2 overall and has a better record than half of the competition in the playoffs. How does Montana (#2) get McNeese St. (7-4), who was not even ranked in the top 25 in any poll. Not only that, App may have to face Furman in the playoffs for a second stright year. I don't understand why the first ranked team in the country is faced with a harder road than the rest of the field. I hope that the fact that we're at home at The Rock will be the difference. Go Apps! Give em hell!

We were the #2 seed last year. New Hampshire was seeded #1. As long as we're at the Rock, I don't care who we play.

That is a bit crazy. Look at the third seed, Massachusetts playing Lafayette (6-5). The only reason Lafayette got in was because everyone else in the Patriot League sucked.

Who cares? If App is the best team what does it matter?

Didn't App State dominate Coastal Carolina earlier this season, or am I imagining that? Regardless, I think App is fielding a better team this year than last year. App State and Montana gotta be the best right now, IMHO.

Tougher games not only increase the likelihood of losing on any particular day (the best team certainly doesn't always win), but also is more draining and impacts future games as well.

I am an alumni and I don't care if we play the worst team or the second to worst team. If they are the best I expect them to handle it.

We played Coastal last year and beat them in Boone 30-3. I am not really concerned about the game itself, what I don't understand is why Montana got McNeese. They were not even ranked in the top 25, they simply won a terrible league. Here are my Rd 1 predictions none the less.

    ASU over Coastal
    Montana St. over Furman

    E. Illinois over Illinois St.
    Youngstown over James Madison

    UMass over Lafayette
    New Hampshire over Hampton

    S. Illinois over Tenn Martin
    Montana over McNeese St.

    Go App

Coastal Carolina is not the worst team in the playoff bracket. The NCAA does attempt to keep the first round opponets travel time down to a minimum if at all possible. App wins in workmanlike fashion 24-10

Bitchin' about getting Coastal? How about being #7 and having to go across the country to play #18. That sucks but they guaranteed the NCAA $200k and the money talked. Oh well. We're supposed pretty healty at QB and FB. Only reason we lose is if the travel screws us up. When we're healty at QB our O can rock (521 total yards vs the Heels). When he's not (Coastal game, App game, a few others) we are pedestrian.

ASU over Coastal - Not even close. 35-10
Furman over Montana St - QB Gray is healthy FU wins. 27-16

    E. Illinois over Illinois St. - by a hair.
James Madison over Youngstown St - A10 is the SEC of 1-AA.

    UMass over Lafayette - Blowout.
New Hampshire over Hampton - Blowout

Tenn Martin over S. Illinois - Tenn-Martin gotta helluva D.
Montana over McNeese St. - Montana by 14

App St has the best OL I've ever seen in 1-AA. And the D has great speed on the perimeter. They'll win it all again. Over either Montana or UMass.
