He also got to the Super Bowl with his defense and Henning's offense.

No. There's no reason to fire Henning.

Also, something to remember: Before Fassel got scapegoated for Billick, Fassel scapegoated Sean Payton - we all know that. But what some of you don't know is that Fassel scapegoated his first OC, too - Jim Skipper. Fox and Skipper spend a lot of the game talking while we have the ball, effectively making Skipper the offensive liason to the offense that's filled because Henning's in the booth (despite Fox's wishes, where I believe he should be). That obviosly suggests a lot of trust, and consider that JF has worked with Skipper more than anyone else on this squad (4 years with the Giants, 5 years here), and let's not forget that he's now Assistant Head Coach. While it'd be the decision of Fox and Fox only, Fox wouldn't make a hire like this without knowing Skipper was okay with it - and I can't say for certain he would be.

Plus, we do also have former NFL coordinator Geep Chryst as QC coach.

It didn't. You're being fooled by defensive scores and Baltimore playing a series of terrible defenses after facing a series of very good ones.

I don't think your "contacts" are in the know anymore. In any case, the Baltimore comment is puzzling precisely because Fassel was so popular with the Giants players and was known as a player's coach. It's hard to say whether or not your rumor about him with the Ravens is true or why that would be, but it's certainly not true that he has a problem connecting with players. That's been demonstrated to be one of his greatest strengths, and in fact a criticism has been that he gets too close to them and fails to maintain a proper level of distance and authority. He's a good coach, regardless of whether or not we bring him in for anything.

Our offense has looked like crap most of this year. It really looked like crap last year but was covered up by Smith being superman. In 2004 it was pretty bad but Moose was being superman. In 2003 it was decent but it used up Stephen Davis in the process. I think a change in our offense would be a good thing. Maybe you do not do it midseason but for next year I would love to see a change. We are near the bottom of the league in rushing offense and in third down conversions. You do not win superbowls without running the ball or converting a good percentage on third down.

There is no "maybe" about it, and Henning will be replaced only when he chooses to retire. Even when he does, it's probably not going to change that much. And by the way, we were near the top of the league in third down conversions last season so it's not a play-calling issue.

I would agree that it isn't a matter of PLAY CALLING, rather a matter of the calls that can be made with this team. Without being able to run the ball consistently, half the playbook goes out the door on third down.

The reason I welcome it is the fact that with him on board you get another person with alot of NFL experience in the meetings and game planning. The more eyes that are looking at film the better prepaired the team can be.

Steve Smith was superman last year. All we had to do is throw him a screen pass behind the line of scrimmage and he would get a first down. This year injuries and drops have slowed him a bit so we are struggling. Our offense is like a basketball team that gets hot hitting 3 pointers. When it is on it is hard to stop but when it is cold it is nothing.

Well, he didn't miss the first two games, and he didn't drop as many passes.

He's still pretty fucking good, though.

Regarding Fassel as OC, I suppose I would be okay with it. He knows what Fox wants, and his playcalling is similar to Henning, so it wouldn't be a tough transition. The rumors about his lack of film study in Baltimore scare me a bit, but that's probably overblown.
