Where will the big name Free Agents land?

Soriano is the big plum. The Angels will be in the hunt, as will the Dodgers.

Zito end up in New York, not sure if it will be Queens, or the Bronx.

Maddux will go somewhere and help a team for a year, maybe two. Would the Cubs have an intrest?

Jason Schmitt looks to be a Yankee, George has got to buy someone.

I'm thinking Steinbrenner will want to go after the Japanese pitcher first, then turn his attention to Zito or Schmidt. The Jap will be costly: $30 mill just to win negotiating rights and then $12-$15 million per year on a contract. I'd imagine Schmidt will be his last option of the three. Same with the Mets.

I was listening to ESPN radio and they said to sign Ichiro it cost Seattle 12 mil. They ex[ect the new Jap 20 million just to sign him to a contract. The up front money is to be written in 1 check. That alone will thin the possible teams. As a lot of teams are pitching needy average pitchers like Ted Lilly and now Jeff Weaver are going to get a lot more money than their worth. ESPN speculates between 9-12 million for Weaver. This to a guy who couldn't get a contract from 3 teams this year!

I am interested in seeing who will waste their money on Jeff Weaver. He had one good start in the World Series and they made him out to be Koufax. This is goona be good.

Dodgers tried with him and he couldn't be consistant enough. Hopefully he's changed that.

    Weaver

Weaver is like any other pitcher who has a pulse and a heart rate, he will be overpaid. Can't take anything away from the way he pitched in the clincher though, he was great. Weaver strikes me as a fit for the Giants. Although he is from Southern California, he sort of looks to be a fit in San Francisco.

Yup..........and he's a lefty to boot. My boys (mostly Red Sox fans) and me are wondering if Barry may wind in Detroit, even though I think it will be Anaheim.
