no I have not. I make my annual trek to Beers of the World the weekend before thanksgiving. the beer there is arranged by country. where should I look?

Most of what I get is in four aisles: England, Ireland, Belgium and US micros. I'll be dropping $125 to $150 for maybe 25 bottles. (not counting the saranac chocolate amber and caramel porter I get for the wife)

The micros are hit and miss. I'm hoping they have AleSmith Speedway Imperial Stout. Comes highly recommended, as does Victory St. Victorious Doppelbock and Arrogant Bastard Ale. I'll try the Orval, if they have it. I'll try the Spaten Oktopberfest too. I've always gotten the Optimator and liked it.

with apologies to VP, I've tried the Pilsner Urquell and don't care for it

wish we could get Stone Arrogant Bastard around here, haven't seen it. Another one I keep getting recommended to me is Bell's, out of PA? Haven't seen them either down here.

Orval's just a spiced belgian trappist, not unlike the Chimay.
Victory's fucking awesome. Everything I've tried from around there. And there's always Allagash Dubbel.

I'll give the Orval's a try, if it's anything at like Chimay, I'll like it.

Pumpkin beer? Really? Sounds nasty. Light beer runs through you too fast to leave a buzz. That's no good. If it's a hot day and I have been mowing the grass and then I grab a Busch. It's got plenty of flavor, it's not bitter, it's not a light beer and you can down it fast to quench your thirst. If I'm drinking beer to be drinking beer then I like something darker and heavier. Usually only one though.

I really prefer Vodka. I have a whole fresh pineapple soaking in a fifth of Absolute Citreon mixed with a fifth of Absolute now. Martinis for the weekend. :five:

    I usually just drink Vodka.
