About 50 lbs. But I'm not convinced I'm going to want to stop there. I have a hunch that when I get to 235, I'm going to think 225 will be closer to ideal. But my docs and I will re-evaluate when I get there.

Not as much as I'd like, actually. When you're 300+, 20 lbs. is less than 10% of your body mass. I can feel some difference, but not anything spectacular yet. That will come in time, though.

    Thanks!

If I wanted to get on the program that you are on what should I tell my doctor it is that I want? Are the shakes you are taking only available via prescription or can I get them at the health food store?

Out here, it's called the "Outlook" program. The shakes are made by a company called "New Direction".

It's not a prescription really, but they're only available through my bariatrician and the cost is not covered by insurance.

I had to get a referral from my regular doctor, so I would assume that's what you would have to do. Here is a partial list of bariatric (weight management) specialists in North Carolina. You might also want to look at the specialist listing in your health insurance manual/website.

Thanks, I might check with one of those guys. I am not really big enough to have surgery but big enough for it to be a health issue. My regular doctor has been treating me with a drug called Metformin but it is not doing anything for me.
