    I would say a toss up between Lewis Black or Doug Stanhope. Mitch Hedberg was the man, but he wouldn't be funny as a rotting carcass.

    Dave Chappelle. not basing that on his tv show either. saw him at the Comedey Zone and he was hilarious.had a headache from laughing so hard. his HBO and Showtime specials were great also.

    i'll throw out eddie izzard. can't say he's the best, but his "dressed to kill" show had me laughing outloud (which is pretty rare for me).
