General question. My wife and I are going to have our daughter baptized in December down in Peru. What's the process for Catholics? I think we have to attend more classes, kinda like the ones we had to attend before getting married. Any info would be appreciated.

Wouldn't your local church be a source for this information?

Well, yea, but I ain't Catholic so I don't have a "local" church. My wife is catholic and she's calling around today. Just seeing if any board members knew anything about this stuff.

A lot of what Sadic says makes some sense, unless he gets in one of his moods. I actually hope he makes an appearance.

I'm not Catholic, but I'm Episcopalian, and in my experience, we do things very similarly.

I don't think that you have to take classes to have your baby baptized, as it is about her, not you. I think that you are confusing the pre cana (sp) (classes that some catholic churches require couples to take before they get married) or the Confirmation (where a person takes classes and really chooses to become a member of the church).

You will be asked to some questions in the service, as will the god parents, and the conregation.

Like I said, I could be wrong though.

They have a drop off service. It's reccomended that you bring a bottle of scotch for the priest.

Well, after talking with the church lady it seems each church/coongregation/diocese, etc does things differently. Here, only one of the parents needs to take the class, but in Peru, I think it may be both. So, we're both going to take the class just to be safe. Not sure the point of the class, as I'm not the one getting baptized.

I'll keep that bottle of scotch for myself and take a sip before the class.
