State kicks ass. Especially teams ranked out of the top 50.

I think UVA is on the rise. They got the best coach in the ACC. That includes Bowden. Both of em.

    Thank you, Bear.

  6. You guys really think Al Doh is the best coach in the conference?

The Bowdens aren't that impressive anymore.

Ralph at Maryland is good. Amato is getting the talent he needs.

    But Al?

    Would you prefer Carl Franks?

    Let's break it down.

Wake is ok and will always be ok.
    Carolina - see wake.
    Dook - nope
FSU - I'm not saying Al is a better coach than Bobby, I'm saying Al is a better coach than Bobby at 80.
    Clemp - always average
Maryland - he is pretty good.
State - Amato is a good coach, but let's hold off until they play OSU.
GT - another good caoch but couldn't win with Jerry Jones money nbacking him.
And UVA - Groh is a mentor, a likeable guy, runs a clean respectable program, pro experience, alma mater. It's a good fit. I think UVA will be the best team in the ACC in three years.

  8. I think Grobe has turned Wake around - the Noles have come down a few notches, but Jim has improved them faster than I thought he could.

Amato is an excellent recruiter - he's in his 3rd year - give him 5, and State should be top 10 every year.

Franks has the toughest job in the ACC, and it appears he's made some progress - beating ECU, and losing a close one to Clemson.

Jerry Jones didn't part with that much $ for Chan - and what he did spend, he didn't get value. Gailey was a solid OC for Pittburgh - but with a meddlesome owner like JJ - unless you're a lap dog, you're gone. Jimmy Johnson put the talent together, and they executed. Barry won with Jimmy's talent, not Jerry's. I think Gailey will keep Georgia Tech strong/improving.

Bunting is a solid coach - he's got more injuries than the Panthers do. The Lite Blue pansies will recruit, and they will be back (unfortunately).

The Fridge at Maryland can coach - and will continue to improve. They started slow with Perry out, but are really putting things together.

Not sure about the Noles. Did the game pass Bowden by? Doubtful - even JoePa reinvented himself. Bobby will get the talent - not sure who will succeed him now. They'll be back.

Clemson amazes me - I thought they had talent, but they don't play together. I like Mike O'Cain (as a person) - great wife & kids, but can he not plan a game, or are those boneheads too dumb to execute on the field? Baby Bowden better put it together, fast. I thought they'd be in the top 1/2 of the ACC.

I think Groh will have his hands full - if he can recruit as good as Bunting, Amato & the Bowdens, maybe he can do it. I enjoyed their comeback win again the squeHeels.

I think overall the coaching in the conference has improved. I always liked George there too - he was a JoePa protege...

He has some good recruiting classes coming in. Hakeem Nicks is a player. Independence is starting to become WR High. Barnes is going to be good in college to and Raley and Massaquoi at UGA along with Eric Lyon and some others.
