First of all, McGwire was not an asshole. He was an endearing sports figure that appealed to a wide audience. The race between him and Sosa brought fans back to baseball after many had shyed away due to the strike in 94.
Second, steriods was not an issue in baseball at that time. No one really thought of these ballplayers as having juiced. And that made them alright in the eyes of the fans.
Third, what the fuck do the Panthers have to do with this discussion? Football has a stronger drug policy than baseball. It is sad when the PUNTER of all people is called out for using steroids.

From all the rumors everyone in football is on the 'roids to including the entire Broncos team that won the Super Bowls back in the 90's. If people would have known about steroids then like we do now people would have booed. I can't stand Giambi, Big Mac, and especially Sosa. If he comes back he is the biggest idiot. He will get booed like crazy, which I don't think he has realized yet.

What makes you think Pujols is on steroids?

A-Rod won't be able to catch Aaron if he keeps getting replaced for defensive purposes late in games.

Pujols' personal trainer is Chris Mihfeld. Used to work with the Royals in strength and conditioning and was/is known for selling 'roids. Jason Grimsley said that he gave him 'roids and masking agents when he came back from Tommy John surgery in the mid 90's. I really don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it if Pujols is on HGH. As bad as A-Rod is doing this year, if he continues to have seasons like this one then he will be at 755 by the time he is 40, and everyone knows he's gonna have at least 2 or 3 more seasons when he cranks out 45 or so unless he gets injured and plays till he's 41 or 42. He's got the best shot out of anyone. Him and Pujols. Pujols will definitely break it.

Then he showed his ass on Capitol Hill after he retired. Yeah, he's endearing alright.
