Mark Loretta just hit a two-run walk off homer against Everyday Eddie as Sox win 7-6. Two more homers for Ortiz and Trot went 3/4 with a pair of runs in his first game back. Lenny Dinardo, filling in for David Wells, threw five strong (two earned runs on six hits).

Loretta said after the game that every home game has a playoff atmosphere. No place better than Fenway.

Yep. I was pretty sure he could be a solid everyday player, and he certainly fits in with the patient approach the Sox want to use. He's playing great so far. I could see him at .310, 15, 90 at the end of the season. I'd take that.

it'll be interesting to see what they do when Crisp comes back: bump Youkilis to the bottom of the order (7 or 8) or move Youkilis to the two spot and shift Loretta down. whoever sits eight is gonna suffer because Gonzalez provides zero protection. guy sure can field though.

    Loretta is the 2. He's a prototypical 2 guy.

I see Youkolis bouncing between 5 and 8. He might be best suited at 8 precisely because he is so patient that he will thrive not seeing shit.
