I honestly have never heard of Johnson, but I'll look him up.

    Overview
Johnson was a three-year starter, with all three seasons including action in the College Football Playoff. He's a big, tough target who displayed improvement making the difficult catch in 2023. He has decent speed but is encumbered by ragged route running that fails to hit the mark with footwork or timing. Johnson's play strength and competitiveness can become a problem for smaller cornerbacks when the action heads down the field. He's a chippy run blocker with the potential to become a weapon as a perimeter blocker. Johnson's size and traits will be lauded, but he might need a simpler route tree to be at his best as a pro backup.

    Strengths
    • Very good size with plus athletic traits.
    • Explosive leaper able to climb the ladder and grab tall throws.
    • Brought in almost every contested catch in 2023.
    • Catches into traffic and is a tough runner after the catch.
    • LOVES to mix it up with defensive backs as chippy run blocker.
    • Creates opportunities for explosive runs in his direction.
    Weaknesses
    • Routes are disheveled and lacking technique.
    • Struggles to find the footwork for beating coverage leverage.
    • Very rounded and gradual getting out of his turns.
    • Needs to locate the football sooner out of his breaks.
    • Average hands with a few too many focus drops.
    Prospect Grade
    5.96
    Average Backup Or Special-Teamer

He is not terrible and is decent at 240. If he is the only WR they come away with in this draft I would be a little disappointed.

I've followed Michigan football for the past several years, and Johnson is good for a "wow" catch or two, but there's no way he ever sticks to an NFL roster.

Sounds kind of like what Chark gave the Panthers last season.
What spot do you think McCarthy goes in?

McCarthy won't go as early as some expect. I would say Minnesota at 11.

    Just a guess

And as far as that last mock, as CJ said, these simulator sites are nuts, they have guys going way late, so I was just helping myself to guys that were a round or two late and took a flyer on the WR from Michigan.

On WR's, I would personally like to get one early, then I wonder about Canales and what he sees in Mingo, the guy from Pittsburgh and Theilen. No telling what the LSU kid can do under new coaching, so maybe we take one at the top of the 3rd and get a CB and Edge or CB and LB at the top of the 2nd. Who knows
